The Pravetz 8A has variations with two types of keyboards - a standard keyboard and a keyboard rubber based keyboard. The later type has a better keyboard design and a different controller.

Pravetz 8A/8E supports 8 bit character set (as opposed to the 7 bit code table supported in previous models), which allowed for capital and lower case letters in cyrillic and english. The keyboard now features arrow keys for all four directions as well as function keys F1 & F2. The integrated support for cassette player was removed. The machine also includes an enchanced version of MONITOR (BIOS). The person in charge of the development of Pravetz 8A was engineer Peter Petrov.
